37-mpg Malibu Eco heads for Bob Maguire Chevrolet

 driven by exclusive eAssist™ technology

BORDENTOWN – Chevrolet continued its global rollout of the all-new 2013 Malibu midsize sedan with the first shipment of its most fuel-efficient Malibu ever – the Malibu Eco – we have 2 cars on the lot, ready to drive and ready for delivery at Bob Maguire Chevrolet in Bordentown, NJ.

The Malibu Eco is the first model of the all-new 2013 Malibu lineup to reach Bob Maguire Chevrolet, bringing with it:

  • A sporty exterior shaped to save fuel
  • An all-new interior with more room, comfort and premium materials
  • Sound-reducing and sound-absorbing components to make it the quietest Chevrolet in history
  • All-new Chevrolet MyLink infotainment system that enhances customer connectivity
  • All-new ride-and-handling package
  • Engineering to meet top safety results around the world.

The heart of the Malibu Eco is its segment-exclusive, fuel-saving eAssist™ technology, which provides GM-estimated 25 mpg city and 37 mpg highway fuel economy. It combines start-stop technology with regenerative braking and a lightweight lithium-ion battery to provide an electric boost in certain conditions, improving fuel economy by 12 percent over today’s four-cylinder engine – and delivering better fuel economy than any non-hybrid midsize sedan currently available.

“Chevrolet made the new Malibu even better with more room inside, a premium interior and new Chevrolet MyLink infotainment technology. It’s also the quietest Chevrolet ever built with the ride and handling characteristics of a premium sports sedan. said Michael Maguire, President of Bob Maguire Chevrolet. “Add in the fuel economy of a compact sedan priced below a full hybrid and we believe the Malibu Eco offers an incredible value.

An all-new Ecotec 2.5L engine debuts in the Malibu later this summer, followed by an all-new Ecotec 2.0L turbo engine.

The new Malibu Eco has a suggested retail price of $25,995, including a $760 destination charge. The 2013 Malibu is Chevrolet’s first global midsize sedan and will be sold in nearly 100 countries on six continents. Last year, the Malibu was GM’s second-best selling car in the United States behind the Chevrolet Cruze compact sedan.

Changes

The Tahoe and Suburban come into 2012 with only a few changes. The LT on both the Tahoe and Suburban gets standard heated seats, and a new All-Star Edition includes heated power mirrors, polished wheels, heavy-duty trailering and chrome trim. The LTZ gets a standard heated steering wheel.

Value

The Tahoe, Tahoe Hybrid and Suburban are all sturdy full-size trucks, oriented toward carrying heavy loads of passengers or cargo and towing large trailers. Both V8 engines provide strong performance, while the Tahoe and Suburban handle much better–even around town–than their mammoth exterior might suggest. In addition, the Tahoe Hybrid remains one of the most efficient full-size SUVs yet fully capable of heavy loads and tow duty.

2012 Tahoe Hybrid Review from Bob Maguire Chevrolet

2012 Tahoe Hybrid Review from Bob Maguire Chevrolet

Overview

The Tahoe and Suburban are Chevrolet’s full-size SUVs. The Suburban is essentially the Tahoe’s longer-wheelbase bigger brother. Both the Tahoe and Suburban are offered in LS, LT and LTZ models, while the Tahoe Hybrid comes in a single trim. Each of these models is available with a choice of rear- or 4-wheel drive. The Tahoe and Suburban both offer a standard 320-horsepower, 5.3L V8 engine paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The heavy-duty Suburban 2500 also offers a 6.0L V8 that makes 352 hp and 382 pound-feet of torque. The Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid employs GM’s 2-mode hybrid system which combines a Vortec 6.0L V8 engine with Active Fuel Management and a sophisticated Electrically Variable Transmission (EVT) system that employs two electric motors that engage to help power the truck for optimal efficiency. The Tahoe hybrid can operate at low speeds on electric power alone and the gasoline engine automatically stops and restarts for traffic lights and idle situations. A 300-watt nickel-metal-hydride battery pack is located under the second-row seat of the Tahoe Hybrid, maintaining the seat’s fold-forward capability. Otherwise, the Hybrid model differs from the standard Tahoe in its use of electric power steering, an electric air conditioning compressor and low-rolling resistance tires. Altogether, the Tahoe Hybrid achieves nearly a 30-percent improvement in efficiency over a non-hybrid, with EPA estimates of 20 mpg city and 23 mpg highway. All Tahoe and Suburban models are built on a fully boxed frame, which gives them full truck toughness and helps keep vibrations out of the cabin. A coil-over-shock front suspension and rack-and-pinion steering give the Tahoe a surprisingly good ride and reasonably responsive handling. LTZ models get a special Autoride suspension system that employs real-time, semi-active adjustable dampers to help reduce body motion. Yet in any of these models, the interior is plush and comfortable and the instrument panel is more like that of Chevy’s passenger cars and modern crossovers than like Chevrolet’s work-oriented pickup trims.

2012 Tahoe Hybrid Review from Bob Maguire Chevrolet

Safety features don’t vary by model; each of the Tahoe and Suburban trims include GM’s StabiliTrak stability control, along with anti-lock brakes, seat-mounted front side airbags and head-curtain airbags for the first and second rows, as well as the OnStar suite of services, such as Stolen Vehicle Slowdown and Automatic Crash Response. A side blind-zone alert system is optional. Also no matter which specific model, tow ratings are strong. The Tahoe can tow up to 8,500 pounds, while the Tahoe Hybrid can tow up to 6,200 pounds and the Suburban can handle trailers up to 8,100 pounds. A heavy-duty 2500 version of the Suburban offers a tow rating of up to 9,600 pounds. Most Tahoe and Suburban models include seating for up to eight, with two buckets in front plus second and third-row bench seats good for three across, but a front bench is available on the Suburban to fit up to nine. Several upholsteries and styles are offered and both the first and second rows can be heated. Top LTZ models include upgraded wheels and chrome trim, a navigation system with XM satellite radio and XM NavTraffic, Bose Centerpoint surround sound system with ten speakers, heated and cooled front seats, a heated steering wheel, perforated leather upholstery and extra power outlets, among many extra features. Among the noteworthy options on the Tahoe and Suburban are navigation, DVD rear entertainment, remote start, tri-zone climate control, Ultrasonic Rear Park Assist, a rearview camera system and a power-folding second-row seat.

Chevrolet to Put Environmental Impact Stickers on All of Their Cars by 2013

In an unprecedented move in the automotive industry, Chevrolet is about to wear its green heart on its sleeve by putting environmental impact labels on all of its vehicles starting with the 2012 Chevy Sonic and continuing through their full line of 2013 models. The new Ecologic labels will provide information for customers on the vehicles’ green features – including their environmental impact related to emissions from manufacturing facilities, waste reduction, fuel-saving technologies, and use of alternative energy sources. In order to make sure the stickers are true to the reality of Chevy’s green initiatives they are having them audited by the third party company Two Tomorrows.

“Customers want companies to be honest and transparent about their environmental efforts and sustainability goals, and rightly so,” said General Motors North America President Mark Reuss. “Putting an Ecologic label on each Chevrolet is just one more way for us to share our environmental progress.” Though the Ecologic program will be introduced on 2013 models, those models will be on the showroom floor before the end of 2012 with stickers ablaze on the rear windows for all vehicle shoppers to see. The stickers will have three eco-sections, one called Before the Road covering manufacturing and development, one called On the Road about how green the vehicle is when it is in your hands and one called After the Road about the possibilities of recycling and reuse of the car and its parts after it leaves your hands — apparently 85% of their weight is completely recyclable.
Two Tomorrows is an independent agency that helps corporations with their sustainability initiatives. Having an independent party get involved with verifying that these stickers are speaking the truth gives us assurance that Chevy isn’t just trying to paint all their vehicles green to make them look more attractive to consumers. This really is a move by one of America’s largest vehicle manufacturers to show the world that they are committed to reducing their total impact with each vehicle sold. In addition to showing their green credentials the stickers will educate consumers about the life-cycle of vehicles, and that buying a green car isn’t just about good gas mileage, it is about how it is built, how it drives and where it will end up once it isn’t road worthy anymore.

NHTSA Press Reslease: Chevy VOLT Fire Probe is CLOSED

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) released the following statement today regarding the conclusion of its safety defect investigation into the post-crash fire risk of Chevy Volts (PE11037):

Today, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration closed its safety defect investigation into the potential risk of fire in Chevy Volts that have been involved in a serious crash. Opened on November 25, the agency’s investigation has concluded that no discernible defect trend exists and that the vehicle modifications recently developed by General Motors reduce the potential for battery intrusion resulting from side impacts.

NHTSA remains unaware of any real-world crashes that have resulted in a battery-related fire involving the Chevy Volt or any other electric vehicle. NHTSA continues to believe that electric vehicles show great promise as a safe and fuel-efficient option for American drivers. However, as the reports released in conjunction with the closure of the investigation today indicate, fires following NHTSA crash tests of the vehicle and its battery components—and the innovative nature of this emerging technology—led the agency to take the unusual step of opening a safety defect investigation in the absence of data from real-world incidents.

Based on the available data, NHTSA does not believe that Chevy Volts or other electric vehicles pose a greater risk of fire than gasoline-powered vehicles. Generally all vehicles have some risk of fire in the event of a serious crash. However, electric vehicles have specific attributes that should be made clear to consumers, the emergency response community, and tow truck operators and storage facilities. Recognizing these considerations, NHTSA has developed interim guidance—with the assistance of the National Fire Protection Association, the Department of Energy, and others—to increase awareness and identify appropriate safety measures for these groups. The agency expects this guidance will help inform the ongoing work by NFPA, DOE, and vehicle manufacturers to educate the emergency response community, law enforcement officers, and others about electric vehicles.

**A special thank you to the NFTSA with this press release!

13 Better Fuel Economy Tips from Bob Maguire Chevrolet

At Bob Maguire Chevrolet, we want to make sure you are getting the most out of your new Chevy or quality pre-owned. That is why Bob Maguire Chevrolet’s Service Department is more than happy to share its top secrets to better gas mileage! Read through Bob Maguire Chevy’s Top 13 Tips for Better Fuel Economy below. You can stop by Bob Maguire Chevrolet’s dealership at 237 US Highway 130, Bordentown, NJ 08505, call at: 609-291-1000, or go to: BobMaguireChevrolet.com at any time to hear the best advice for getting the most out of your new Chevy or quality pre-owned vehicle from Bob Maguire Chevrolet.

  1. Tune Up: A properly tuned engine can improve fuel economy about 4 percent, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
  2. Pump Up: Properly inflated tires improve gas mileage by up to 3.3 percent. Properly inflated tires are safer and last longer. Under-inflated tires can lower fuel economy by 0.3 percent for every one pound-per-square-inch drop in the pressure of all four tires.
  3. Unpack: Carrying unneeded cargo makes your vehicle work harder and use more gas. The EPA says an extra 100 pounds reduces fuel economy up to 2 percent – even more in smaller vehicles.
  4. Slow Down: While each vehicle reaches its optimal fuel economy at a different speed (or range of speeds), gas mileage usually decreases rapidly at speeds above 60 mph, according to the EPA. Every 5 mph over 60 mph is like adding an additional 24 cents per gallon for gas.
  5. Avoid Idling: A car gets 0 mpg when the engine is idling.
  6. Chill Out: Speeding, rapid acceleration and braking can lower gas mileage by 33 percent on the highway and 5 percent in city driving.
  7. Put it in Overdrive: Using an overdrive gear on the highway reduces engine speed, saving both fuel and engine wear.
  8. Roll ‘Em Down Around Town: Air conditioning reduces fuel efficiency by up to 10 percent. Avoid using the air conditioner by rolling down the windows at speeds below 40 mph. At speeds above 45 mph, wind drag uses more fuel than running the A/C.
  9. Unclog: Older cars without fuel injection and computer-controlled technology can lose 14 percent of their fuel economy because of a dirt-clogged air filter, which also can damage the engine. A clean air filter improves acceleration.
  10. Use the Right Oil: Because oil reduces engine friction and friction makes an engine work harder, using the manufacturer’s recommended grade of oil improves fuel economy by 1 percent to 2 percent.
  11. Plan your Trips: Taking your kids to soccer or swim classes? Grocery shopping? Plan logical routes and timing to avoid heavy periods of traffic congestion.
  12. Cap Check: A missing or poorly fitting gas cap can reduce fuel economy by 1 to 2 percent.
  13. OnStar Diagnostics: OnStar provides regular Diagnostics on a monthly and now on a remote immediate basis (with the OnStar App). You have an accurate reading of all of the technical information you need to take simple pre-cautions to reduce the fuel consumption of your car.

2012 Nissan 370Z Reviwe from Windsor Nissan

Nearly everything about the 370Z models is tuned for performance over fuel-efficiency, comfort or space, and shoppers should take that into account. The 370Z features strong performance in both acceleration and handling and pricing starts at under $32,000. In testing, the 370Z has returned performance numbers that rival cars costing several times as much.

2012 Nissan 370Z Review by Windsor Nissan

2012 Nissan 370Z Review by Windsor Nissan

Overview

The 370Z is available in coupe and roadster body styles. Whether in Base or Touring trim, both come with the same 332-horsepower, 3.7L V6 and a choice of 6-speed manual or 7-speed automatic transmissions. The V6 employs Variable Valve Event and Lift Control–tech magic that makes sure the engine can make as much power as it can handle yet stay smooth and efficient, to provide much better performance than before without using any more fuel. Highway fuel economy estimates are as high as 26 mpg highway. The 370Z has been tested to accelerate to 60 mph in less than five seconds. Both transmissions also get features that help get more enjoyment out of the 370Z when driven hard. SynchroRev Match in the 6-speed manual automatically matches revs to the next gear to make shifts smooth, while the 7-speed automatic gets a comparable feature that matches revs to help reduce the jolt that’s otherwise felt on a forced downshift. The automatic comes with steering-wheel paddle-shifters, but the shift lever can also be used. Underneath, the 370Z has a configuration that’s much like a sedan’s, but tuned much more aggressively. The suspension uses double wishbones in front and a multi-link setup in back, all kept under close control with stabilizer bars and high-response shocks. Grip is tremendous and balanced thanks to standard 18-inch wheels with staggered-width summer performance tires.

2012 Nissan 370Z Review by Windsor Nissan

An optional Sport Package brings 19-inch RAYS forged alloy wheels and even wider tires, along with larger Nissan Sport Brakes, 4-piston front calipers and a viscous limited-slip differential. All 370Z models feature anti-lock brakes with brake assist, along with electronic stability control. Front seat-mounted side airbags and door-mounted side-curtain bags are also standard. A special design feature of the speed-sensitive power steering is that it will reduce vibrations and major shocks while still transmitting road feel to the driver. The Roadster features a black-cloth convertible soft with a softer fabric inner liner that helps insulate the interior and reduce noise. Going up or down, the power top takes about 20 seconds and is operated by either of a couple convenient switches. When the top is up, it stows away under a hard tonneau cover. There’s also a pop-up glass wind deflector between the fixed headrest bars; it serves to help reduce turbulence at high speed. Touring models add a host of extras including heated-and-cooled leather power seats, a Bluetooth hands-free system, a garage door opener, aluminum pedals and an 8-speaker Bose audio system. Other than the Sport Package, a Navigation Package adds a hard-drive Music Box hard drive and USB interface. Finally, the NISMO 370Z Coupe includes race-inspired interior and exterior cues, plus an even firmer suspension and special 19-inch Yokohama Sport Y-rated performance tires.
