  • 2010 Nissan Armada

    2010 Nissan Armada

If you’re looking for brute power, the Armada is king. Its V8 engine can handle a car full of people, a minimum of 6,500 pounds in tow, and the gear that goes with it all. The three available trim levels offer a price point for almost everyone, with the Platinum model having all the luxury appointments of its competitors, but with a lower price tag.

    2010 Nissan DashBoard

The Nissan Armada is powered by a 5.6-liter V8 engine, with 317 horsepower, 385 lb-ft of torque and continuously variable valve timing, mated to a 5-speed automatic with tow/haul Mode. All three trim levels are available as rear-wheel drive or 4-wheel drive. And in some areas of the country, the Armada is available as a Flex-Fuel vehicle capable of using ethanol.

    2010 Nissan Armada

Despite its size and massive engine, the Armada is surprisingly responsive. It incorporates anti-lock brakes, active brake limited slip, electronic brake force distribution and brake assist. It also has independent double wishbone suspension front and rear, with the rear being auto-leveling. The Armada comes with standard automatic headlights, heated power outside mirrors and rear sonar for assistance while backing up. The differences between the three Armada styles start with the exterior. The SE sits on 18-inch wheels and a body-color grille, while the Titanium and Platinum get 20-inch rims and a chrome grille.

    2010 Nissan Armada Music Box

As for the interior, it comes with dual-zone temperature control, rear air conditioning with rear controls, cruise control, 8-way driver’s seat and speed-sensitive windshield wipers. The Titanium and Platinum trims add standard keyless ignition, Bluetooth, a 4-way passenger seat, power 60/40 third-row seat, leather seats and wood trim. Exclusive to the Platinum level is the Nissan Hard Drive Navigation System with XM NavTraffic, heated front seats with memory, and heated, leather-wrapped steering wheel. Seating eight people means someone is going to need to be entertained, so the Armada has a standard 6-CD system with MP3 playback, auxiliary jack and rear audio controls with wireless headphone capability and headphone jacks. The stereo can be upgraded in the Titanium and Platinum Armadas to a 12-speaker Bose system, while a 9.3GB Music Box hard drive and card reader are standard equipment at the Platinum level.

    2010 Nissan Altima Review

The Altima gets a thorough refresh of the model lineup for 2010, including a restyled hood, grille and front bumper, different wheel designs and reconfigured interior trims, colors and materials. Entertainment and technology options have been significantly upgraded in the Altima this year, with new premium audio packages that include a 9-speaker Bose audio system, a Bluetooth hands-free calling interface, a USB port and iPod connectivity, a color display screen and a rearview monitor. Also, a new navigation system includes a larger screen, a 9.3-gigabyte Music Box hard-drive for music storage, Bluetooth Streaming Audio, DVD playback, and XM NavTraffic and NavWeather capabilities.

    2010 Nissan Altima Sedan

Also for 2010, electronic stability control is now standard across the entire model line, and the top-of-the-line 3.5 SE model of the Altima now gets the 3.5 SR badge instead. Three new exterior colors are offered on the Altima for 2010: Crimson Black, Navy Blue, and Ocean Gray. Gauge illumination has been changed from red to white, while a red-leather interior is offered for the first time on the coupe.

    2010 Nissan Altima Coupe

Whether as a coupe or sedan, the Altima feels quite sporty, with better steering and handling than most other mid-size sedans; appearance-wise, it’s also more distinctive than other mid-size sedans or coupes, with an interior that feels more inspired and sporty. Base-model Altimas also come better equipped than most other mid-size models. Performance remains a strength for the Altima; its engines provide good acceleration, while responsive handling helps complete the sporty feel throughout. The Altima Hybrid isn’t offered in all states, but it does offer excellent fuel economy while performing better overall than the Toyota Camry Hybrid.

    2010 Nissan Altima Hybrid

The Nissan Altima model line includes coupes and sedans, powered by 4-cylinder and V6 engines, all with front-wheel drive. There’s also a Nissan Altima Hybrid-available in select markets-that includes a 4-cylinder engine and full hybrid system. SR models replaces last year’s SE offerings at the top, so the Altima line now includes S and SR trims for both sedans and coupes; there’s also a separate price-leader Base version of the sedan, priced at less than $20,000. Models with the 175-horsepower, 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine can have either a 6-speed manual transmission or continuously variable (CVT) automatic, while the 270-hp, 3.5-liter V6 is offered only with the CVT in sedans but with either the CVT or a 6-speed manual in coupes.

    2010 Nissan Altima V6 Engine

No matter which model, the Altima feels sportier than most rival models. Well-bolstered sport seats and more of a cockpit-style interior also distinguish the cabin feel. With revised trims for 2010, the interior has more soft-touch materials and chrome accents. A revised ‘blonde’ interior theme is available on the coupe, and the new red-leather interior is especially distinctive. On the outside, all Altimas get dual exhausts for a sporty look, while Altima Hybrids, SR sedans and all coupes come with sportier alloy wheels. In either case the Altima handles very well thanks to speed-sensitive power rack-and-pinion steering and a suspension that’s tuned on the firm side yet compliant enough for most surfaces.

    2010 Nissan Altima Interior

V6 models get sportier suspension tuning, with thicker front and rear stabilizers to help get the most out of the additional power, while all models get 4-wheel anti-lock disc brakes. As a coupe, the Altima is somewhat more nimble, because it has a shorter wheelbase than the sedan and has a bit less back-seat space as well. Trunk size is quite a bit smaller in coupe models, but both have a split-folding back seat to expand cargo space for larger items.
The Altima Hybrid employs a full hybrid system that combines the 2.5-liter engine with an electric-drive motor/generator system and an electronically controlled CVT. Altogether, the powertrain produces 198 horsepower and gets EPA ratings of 35 mpg city, 33 highway; for 4-cylinder models with the CVT, the ratings are 23/31.
Base-model Altima sedans come with a surprisingly level of equipment, including air conditioning, power locks and windows, a trip computer, cruise control, tilt/telescopic steering, and rear-seat heated vents. S models include a 6-speaker sound system, Intelligent Key entry and ignition system, and variable intermittent wipers. At the top of the line, SR models get fog lamps, power heated mirrors with integral turn signals, wood-tone and leather interior trims, a power driver’s seat, a moonroof (optional in the sedan), and upgraded 18-inch alloy wheels.
Safety is strongly represented now, too, with electronic stability control now standard, in addition to a full roster of airbags. The star of the Altima’s options list is a new Nissan Hard Drive Navigation System, which includes XM NavTraffic and NavWeather with dynamic rerouting; a Zagat restaurant guide; Bluetooth Streaming Audio: a DVD player: an RCA input; and 9.3 GB of hard-drive capacity for music storage. Also newly available is a premium audio package with 9-speaker Bose system plus a color display, USB and iPod connectivity and a Bluetooth hands-free calling system.

    Nissan Brings Forth New Technologies

Nissan has always been a front runner in the technology race, and this year will probably be no different. Nissan announced two new technologies that they will be using in their 2011 vehicle line-up: The Forward Collision Avoidance Assist Concept and Moving Object Detection.

    Nissan Logo

Foward Collision Avoidance Assist is a technology aimed at helping, “drivers avoid hitting vehicles ahead of them that may have come to a stop or are traveling significantly slower, while also helping to reduce the chance of a rear-end collision by helping to avoid sudden braking, ” according to Mark Kleis. This new technology uses radar to detect the speed and distance of a car in fr0nt of it. When a vehicle starts to slow down or becomes too close to it, a warning will sound and display on a screen AND the the technology will send a signal to the accelorator to slow down and to the brake to slow down the car, as well.

    Forward Collision Avoidance Assist

Moving Object Detection is another technology by Nissan that uses sensors to detect the movement of bicycles, pedestrians and other drivers. When an object is detected, the device warns with driver audibly and visibly on screen. Nissan says that this technology will help avoid accidents in parking lots and areas with lots of small children/objects.

    2010 Nissan X-Terra

The 2010 Nissan Xterra is a basic, value-priced sport-utility vehicle that offers serious truck durability and off-road ability. With convenient tie-down points and storage spaces, it’s a good choice for young, active people who need to go off-road with a bike, kayak or other equipment. Yet with the back seat up and in place, there’s enough space for four adults.

    2010 Nissan X-Terra

Four different models are offered: X, S, Off-Road and SE. All 2010 Nissan Xterras are powered by a 261-horsepower 4.0L V6 engine, which is mated to either a 6-speed manual or 5-speed automatic transmission, though the S and SE come only with the automatic. Each model (except for the Off-Road trim) is offered in a choice of rear-wheel drive or a 4-wheel-drive system that has an electronically controlled part-time transfer case with low-range mode.

The Xterra has serious truck underpinnings good for off-road adventuring, hauling heavy loads or towing up to 5,000 pounds. Its F-Alpha platform and fully-boxed frame are shared with Nissan’s Titan and Frontier pickups, along with the Armada and Pathfinder SUVs. In front, the suspension is an independent double-wishbone design with a stabilizer bar, while there’s a heavy-duty solid-axle setup with leaf springs in back. Off-Road models are supplemented with Bilstein gas shocks, which are comparable in on-road control but offer more wheel travel.

    2010 Nissan X-Terra

With its many utility-oriented features, the Xterra is designed for especially active people who carry heavy gear and need to go off-road. Side steps are built into the rear bumper for easy access to the roof rack, which has a latchable lid. The cargo area has an Easy Clean surface and ten cargo utility hooks, including six floor hooks capable of carrying up to 110 pounds each. In addition there’s an available adjustable channel system in the cargo floor, similar to that offered in Nissan pickups, for securing bike racks or specialized gear. There’s also space to secure and carry jugs of up to a gallon.

    2010 Nissan XTerra Engine

Very short front and rear overhangs make the Xterra well proportioned for off-roading. It has several specialized features oriented toward rough terrain, including hill descent control and hill start assist, which both increase safety and help maintain control on steep slopes. Off-Road models also include an electronic-locking rear differential.

    2010 Nissan X-Terra Interior

Safety features on all Xterra models include front-seat side-impact airbags, electronic stability control and anti-lock brakes. Roof-mounted side-curtain airbags, which cover all outboard occupants, are also standard.

The base X model includes keyless entry and power windows, locks and mirrors, while the S adds step rails, a first-aid kit, a cargo net, roof-rack cross bars, a gear basket, upgraded seat fabric, alloy wheels, the Easy Clean cargo surface, a C-Channel cargo floor and a Rockford Fosgate audio system with Bluetooth, XM radio, steering wheel audio controls and an iPod jack.

    2010 Nissan XTerra

Stepping up to the Off-Road model bring the aforementioned off-road equipment, Bilstein shocks, off-road tires, skid plates, fog lamps, roof-mounted lights, black body-side molding, a fold-flat passenger seat, blue cloth seat fabric and a leather-trimmed steering wheel. At the top of the range, the SE gets a standard automatic transmission, leather seating, Long Trail tires and body-colored exterior mirrors.

    To the UK, that is…

    Nissan Murano Diesel

The Nissan Murano has been on sale in the UK since 2004, which isn’t anything new, but for the first time this year the Nissan Murano will have a Diesel Engine option!

    Nissan Murano Diesel V6 Engine

We all know about the EU’s intense Euro5 emissions standards, and Nissan’s diesel engine will help the Murano keep its act in-line with them. The new Diesel Engine will get the Murano around 35.3 miles to the gallon and 210g/km CO2 emissions, which is much better than the gasoline engine.

Nissan and Apple, Together in Perfect Harmony

Earlier this month Apple launched its new advertising app: iAds, to be viewed by iPhone users. The application allows companies to advertise within other iPhone Apps without being a distraction to the iPhone user or force the iPhone user to click into an internet site.

    Steve Jobs Explaining iAds

Nissan found this new iPhone app to be very appealing for its Nissan LEAF campaign, so it signed up with Apple and became the first automotive company to participate in iAds. When an iPhone user clicks on the Nissan LEAF iAds advertisement, they will be directed to a video explaining all of the electric vehicle’s specs.

iAds App for the Nissan LEAF

This new spin on marketing should favor well for Nissan, and hopefully Apple will be just as pleased with its new application platform.

    2010 Nissan Titan Review

With two cab sizes, four bed sizes, four trim levels, and a long list of options and available packages, there are dozens of ways to configure the Titan to fit the job at hand. Every Titan gets the 5.6L V8 engine, which is capable of running on E85 bio-ethanol fuel, and a 5-speed transmission. Front air bags and ABS are also standard features.

    2010 Nissan Titan

The King Cab can be matched with either a 6-foot-6-inch or 8-foot bed; the Crew Cab gets either a 5-foot-6-inch or 7-foot bed and rear half-doors that fold flat against the bed sides for easy entry. The four trim levels, from the most basic to the most feature-filled, are XE, SE, Pro-4X and LE.

    2010 Nissan Titan

The 5-passenger XE King Cab starts the model out with 168-degree Wide Open doors and a CD stereo. The 6-passenger XE Crew Cab adds power locks, windows and rear glass and two more speakers. Both are available as rear-wheel or 4-wheel drive trucks.

The SE has everything the XE does, plus 18″ alloy wheels, chrome bumpers and grille, power mirrors, remote keyless entry and 6-disc in-dash CD changer. Like the XE, it comes in either rear-wheel or 4-wheel drive.

    2010 Nissan Titan Interior

The Pro-4X takes the features of the SE and adds off-road capabilities, like electric locking rear differential, Rancho shock absorbers, lower gear ratio, two additional skid plates, fog lights, bed lockbox, upgraded interior trim and white gauges in the dash. The Pro-4X is only available in 4-wheel drive.

The LE takes the features in the SE and adds a load of extras: 20″ alloys, automatic headlights, spray-on bedliner rear sonar system, 10-speaker Rockford Fosgate stereo upgrade, Bluetooth connectivity, dual-zone temperature control, heated front seats and power adjustable pedals. It takes a few features from the Pro-4X, too, such as fog lights and bed lockbox.

All Titans now get Nissan’s Vehicle Dynamic Control and side-impact airbags as standard safety equipment.

    2010 Nissan Titan Engine

Besides these cab sizes, bed lengths and trim levels, there are several packages of options available for the Titan: Max Utility, Side Airbags, XE Popular Equipment, SE Popular Equipment, Heavy Metal Chrome, Driver’s Convenience and Technology. Most of these packages include features that are standard on the LE version of the Titan, but some, like the Side Airbags package, is optional for all models. It includes roof-mounted airbags, side-mounted airbags and vehicle dynamic control.

The exact features included in the new Heavy Metal Chrome package depend on the model, but it generally includes chrome wheels, chrome step rails, chrome billet grille, chrome door handles, and, on the SE Crew Cab, chrome mirrors.

The Driver’s Convenience package adds 8-way adjustable front captain’s chairs rather than the 40/60/40 split front bench, Bluetooth, and the upgraded sound system. In the Crew Cab configuration, this package includes a sunroof, too.

The Max Utility package makes the Titan into the ultimate workhorse, with spray-in bedliner receiver hitch, 7-pin wiring harness, heavy-duty battery, and front tow hooks. The Pro-4X and LE versions of the package include heated tow mirrors in addition to all the other features.
