Nissan Motor Company has recently announced that they have just commercialized a car in Beijing that uses a navigation system with real-time traffic information. The navigation system shows drivers the quickest routes to their destination avoiding congested roads, based on the traffic probe data collected from within the city. To promote the system Nissan will mount its portable models in two- hundred taxis in Beijing and also in Olympic staff vehicles to monitor the usage for two months. Nissan executive Officer Shunichi Toyomasu said that when 30 percent of the vehicles in Beijing are equipped with the navigation system, the average commute time will be reduced by up to sixteen percent and carbon dioxide emissions will be reduced by up to twenty-seven percent
