Chevrolet’s Cobalt was a much needed upgrade on the old Cavalier, and while it is a strong seller GM knows it can do better. Now the Chevrolet Cruze with take the Cobalt’s place in 2010 as a 2011 model. The Cruze features a bisected grille which was first introduced on the Malibu and then later with the 2009 Aveo5. Very obvious differences however, are all the angles and creases as opposed to the Malibu’s soft and curvy body style.
“Our goal in designing the Cruze was to be gold, not evolutionary, we wanted to take a big step forward, making a strong design statement for Chevrolet products around the world.” Commented designer Taewan Kim.
There will be three engine choices available from launch. A 112-horsepower 1.6L engine, 140-horsepower 1.8L engine, diesel fans will also be able to order a Cruze with a 2.0-liter, turbo-charged engine.
