GM plans to axe Madison dealership

According to Tom Thorstad, Vice president and general manager of Thorstad Chevrolet, they have received letter from GM informing it intends to discontinue the franchise no later than Otober, 31, 2010. In a brief statement, Thorstad said, “ whatever the eventual outcome for us, we still feel the cars we sold yesterday are the same great cars we will sell tomorrow.
In May, GM has announced it planned to close 1,100 dealerships by end of the year to cut costs. At that time, only Johnson sales in Arlington was the only dealership in that area to receive termination letter from GM . Since they did not receive any termination letter during May, they did not expect this letter now.
This Chevrolet dealership company employs 105 workers from the sales and showroom staff to the mechanics in the service department.
