About the Event/American Cancer Society:
Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is the American Cancer Society’s premier event to raise awareness and funds to fight breast cancer. But it’s more than just the name of a walk – it describes the amazing progress we’re making together to defeat this disease. Since 1993, 4 million walkers have raised more than $280 million through Making Strides. In 2007 alone, nearly 500,000 walkers across the country collected more than $50 million to help fight breast cancer.
We encourage your participation on this page, but we want to ensure that everyone stays on topic. We welcome your thoughts, comments, suggestions and questions, but when you post, make sure your postings are of general interest to most readers. Profanity, racial and ethnic slurs, and rude behavior like disparaging personal remarks will not be tolerated. We reserve the right to remove any postings including spam, advertising and non-cancer related topics. Though we appreciate your passion for funding cancer, we reserve the right to remove any postings that promote fundraising opportunities for other organizations. We will strive to present opposing viewpoints and keep this site as interesting, diverse and multi-sided as possible. While we want to engage in a conversation with you, not every message will receive a response.
The American Cancer Society has a presence in more than 3,400 communities across the country and is the only organization available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to help people touched by cancer. Breast cancer is the number one reason people call the Society. When you support Making Strides, you are helping the Society seek better ways to prevent, detect, and treat breast cancer, as well as provide help and hope to people facing the disease.
