General Motors has opened a new design studio in Seoul, South Korea, this past Wednesday, April 20, 2010. This will be GM’s tenth global design studio, to date, and will be responsible for creating mini and small vehicles to be sold around the world. There will be over thirty designers at the Seoul Advanced Design studio working diligently to create new concept vehicles for GM world-wide.
As time goes by, I believe that this design studio will become a crucial part of GM as the United States, and the World, enforces more strict fuel-efficiency and emissions standards. Soon, more and more people will be driving mini or small vehicles in order to comply with fuel-efficiency and emissions standards, and this GM design studio will be one of the major players contributing to the designs of those vehicles.
For all of you who have been patiently waiting for the past 16 years, I would just like to say: Wooo-Hooo! For only the fourth time in history, Chevy is building a replica of the Camaro Indianapolis 500 Pace Car. All of the features found on the top-of-the-line Camaro SS can be found on the limited edition, and the limited edition will also include some of the features exclusive to the actual pace car driven by Robin Roberts this Indianapolis 500. Some more details on the car include:

Nissan Motor Co. will sell the Leaf electric car for a base price of $32,780 in the United States and begin taking orders on April 20. When combined with a $7,500 federal tax credit, the Leaf will be priced at $25,280, the automaker said in a statement today. State and local credits can further reduce the cost to consumers, Nissan said. Early on today, the automaker also said it would sell the battery-powered Leaf hatchback starting off at 3.76 million yen ($40,640) in Japan, where it is also counting on government subsidies to slash the cost to consumers. Nissan said it aims to sell 6,000 Leaf cars, its first mass-volume all-electric model, in Japan for the year ending in March 2011. The company will start taking orders for the model April 1 in Japan, with the first delivery expected in December. After accounting for Japanese government subsidies, Nissan said the net cost to consumers to buy a new Leaf would be near 2.99 million yen ($32,373). The Leaf pricing also represents a premium over established, combustion-engine powered small sedans, such as the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla. Analysts have said the premium reflects the cost of developing and producing the Leaf’s lithium-ion battery pack. The cost of batteries and the reluctance of consumers to pay more upfront for fuel-saving technology are seen as the major hurdles to mass-market adoption of electric vehicles. Toyota Motor Corp.’s gasoline-electric Prius hybrid, now in its third generation, has a base model starting price at just over 2 million yen ($22,195) in Japan. After trailing rivals Toyota Motor and Honda Motor in the hybrid field, Japan’s No.3 automaker has bet heavily on pure electric vehicles along with partner Renault SA of France. Nissan has said it expects that 10 percent of the world’s auto market will be electric vehicles by 2020, a ratio at the top of industry projections. The automaker has also announced a series of partnerships with utilities and government agencies in the United States and Europe where it believes it has a chance of seizing market leadership. The five-passenger Leaf is designed to provide a range of about 100 miles. Nissan has developed the battery pack for the Leaf with NEC Corp., so that it can be recharged overnight on a 220-volt connection. While skeptics abound, almost all major automakers are working on developing battery-run cars for use mainly in urban areas, to meet stricter emissions and mileage regulations being introduced around the world.
We all know how important it is to lower our carbon footprint; what we do today ultimately affects those in the future. Nissan and Chevrolet have decided to help future generations by introducing electric cars. Nissan is placing its ‘Leaf’ on the market later on this year, and the same goes for Chevrolet with its ‘Volt’.
The Nissan Leaf will be able to travel up to 100 miles on one charge! Now, 100 miles may not seem like that long of a distance, but most Americans actually travel less than that to get to work and back every day. Wouldn’t it be nice to virtually never have to pay for gas again?
The new electric cars are being modeled to look and act as normal, gas vehicles. There are many technological attractions about green cars – including, blind spot sensors, collision avoidance systems and touch sensitive controls. Even the prices of the vehicles are aimed to be priced around those of its gas competitors (roughly $30,000 to $40,000).

On Friday, March 26th, 2010, GM announced a new way to produce more of its Equinox and GMC Terrains. GM is going to expand the CAMI Automotive plant in Ingersoll, Ontario to produce more Equinox bodies and then it will have those bodies shipped to the Oshawa plant for paint and final assembly. “This plan for CAMI and Oshawa allows us to meet customer demand for hot products while avoiding a potential production overcapacity situation by creatively using our assets and facilities,” said Mark Reuss, GM North America president. Reuss also stated that, “This agreement is pretty cost-effective and they could easily get 50,000 to 60,000 more units of … production…” Who doesn’t love the idea of having more Equinox readily available?
Another great aspect to this announcement is the creation of 600 jobs for the Oshawa plant and 70 jobs for the CAMI plant! In a time of world-wide economic hardship, it is great to see a company re-opening jobs for people.
We all know that it is not necessary to pump your own gas in the great state of New Jersey. This is a brilliant concept for those who live in NJ, and stay in NJ, but once a New Jerseyan crosses the border into Pennsylvania, New York, or Delaware, going to the gas station is a whole different ballgame. No longer is it a quick, painless trip; it becomes a full-on battle of ‘you vs. the gas pump’. The following is a guide for New Jerseyans on how to properly pump gas, so that when presented with the challenge, the outcome will not result in tangled hoses, gas stained hands, or the genius question of: ‘do I pay before or after I pump?!’. After you read this guide you will be just as capable of skillfully pumping gas like our nice neighbors (and, maybe, even better!).
First Things First: Know which side of the car your gas tank door is on. It is quite embarrassing to drive up to a pump, turn off your car and get out, only to realize that you need to get back into your car and move to the other side of the pump. Save yourself the trouble, and embarrassment, – remember what side your gas tank door is on!
Okay, Another First Thing: Keep baby wipes in your middle consul. After you are finished pumping your gas you can use them to wipe your hands and get rid of the smell the gas pump left behind.
How to Handle the Gas Pump Kiosk: Remember to read the instructions on the gas pump kiosk – they are there for a reason! Many gas stations require that you pay before you pump. So, if you are paying by credit card you will most likely need to swipe your card and then proceed with the rest of the process. If you are paying by cash you will need to go inside the store, tell the attendant how much gas you want, and then pay before you go back out to your station to pump.
Once You Have Paid: Here is where the fun begins! You need to specify which type of gas you would like to pump (regular, premium, or super). Some kiosks will ask you this and make the process easy, but for others you just need to know to press the correlating button above the gas hose that pumps out the specific gas you want.
Making the Hose Work: In order to do this you will need to lift the hose’s handle off of its stand in the kiosk and then insert the nozzle of the hose into the gas tank opening. Make sure that the nozzle is secure – you don’t need it falling off and pouring gas out everywhere! Next, there will either be a switch or button on the pump to allow the gas to flow. Press/switch it. In order to get the gas through the nozzle of the hose you will need to pull up on the trigger located in the handle of the hose (you will know what this is when you grasp the handle). Some of the triggers will lock, allowing the gas to move into the gas tank freely (which mean you can clean your windows or go get a snack). However, some of them do not have a lock and will make you hold down the trigger until the gas is finished pumping.
When It’s Done, It’s Done: You will know when your gas tank is full (or when you have reached your $ limit) when the gas stops pumping and you hear a loud ‘clunk’ sound (this is the pump shutting off). Remove the nozzle and place the handle back onto its proper place in the kiosk. Remember to screw your gas cap back on (and listen for the loud ‘click, click, click’ – when you hear that sound the gas cap is firmly screwed on)!
That’s all there is to it! You are now an expert gas pumper!
Remember: Always shut your car completely off before pumping gas!!

Chevrolet Cruze was a huge hit at Los Angeles auto show in December by General Motors. Huge response was witnessed through volume of questions about the performance variant of Cruze. The Cobalt SS, sub-par interiors are well known for the legacy of GM compact performance which is always a coveted feature people look for. But surprisingly GM still not confirmed anything about this performance variant and kept on using RS phrase in conversations. GMI has indicated reasons about bringing RS by GM.
Here 2011 order guide for Cruze confirmed a optional RS package on the car. This option is restricted to 2LT and LTZ trim levels and tagged as “appearance package”. RS package is supposed to be having additions as unique deck-lid spoiler, Ground effects package, unique instrument panel and Fog lamps.
